DISCERNING TRUTH
(October 27, 2015)
No doubt we have lately witnessed hundreds of wrong messages that have proliferated in the social networks and the media about "prophets" who predict various disasters accurate pointing and various international social events and dates still to come, as that in last September disappear California by a major earthquake, a meteor fall in Puerto Rico and that the world would suffer an economic and social chaos, because the "blood moons" (April and September) were signals coming of the Lord. Why all this confusion? All these predictions actually have only one root: ignorance of Scripture and draw them incorrectly by an elementary lack of eschatological and systematic theology.
Jesus taught us to discern the times (Matthew 16: 1-3), that is, to correctly discern the biblical prophecies concerning international events, but without falling into sensationalism or twisting the Scriptures to our own opinion.
Clearly, the seven feasts of the Lord given to the people of Israel were celebrations representing the ministry and person of Jesus Christ, who fulfilled in his life four of them (Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits and Pentecost), so three missing (Trumpets, Atonement and Tabernacles, falling three in the month of September) will be fulfilled by the same in the near future.
How can we know correctly what the scriptures teach us?
The philosophical discipline to come to the knowledge of truth is called "epistemology" which attempts to answer the question: How do we know what we know? o What is the basis of true knowledge? How do we really know what is true? Is truth only what I think? Is the relative truth for all people or is objective and can apply to all people as a universal standard for the truth?
There are couple different ways to face these questions of epistemology and with different conclusions.
However, this issue can be simplified dramatically to biblically consider that there are really only two voices in the world who claim to have the truth.
One of these voices always tell the truth (the Bible) and the other (Satan, as the author of lies, distorted, adds, and always mixes truth with lies - John 8:44).
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had only one voice about the universe around them, it was pure and unchanging voice of truth.
They listened and were taught by the voice of the Creator of the universe, the only one who could know the origin of life, the universe, ourselves and the future.
But when they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they obtained the knowledge of good and evil completely distorted.
They were deceived by the words of Satan told Eve: "Really God said ...?", that is, are they going to really believe what God said?
Later, when sin entered their lives, two asked a question to Adam, "Who told you that you were naked?"
Of course God knew the answer to this question, but He wanted Adam to be honest with himself, he understood that his reaction was based on information from a source CORRUPTED.
From this tragic event, all human beings throughout history have had to face the decision to listen to one of these two voices representing good and evil.
Currently there are various philosophies that are promoted as true paths to knowledge, as the New Age, Eastern philosophies, Islam, the theory of evolution, atheism, Christian Science, Scientology, materialism, etc.
All these voices that come and have their origin in God's enemy are wrong paths to knowledge of the truth, for it was the Lord Jesus who said: "I am the truth, the way and the life" (John 14: 6) .
The apostle John wrote:
"They are of the world, therefore they speak of the world and the world listens.
We are from God, who knows God hears us, that is not of God does not hear us, in this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error "(I John 4: 5-6).
By examining what you think about Bible prophecy, life and reality, become the same question: "Who told you?".
