God knows everything

God knows everything

Psalm 147: 5 Great is our Lord and of great power: his understanding is infinite

God knows everything, so He knows our sin.

Our time in history has been called "the information age" computers work over 24 hrs storing information of all kinds of knowledge. And this flood of data is growing increasingly. Without the help of advanced technology we can process and interpret only a small fraction of it.

In contrast, God is omniscient, He knows everything. Our writing today says "His understanding is infinite" Isaiah asks: "Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord or him as his counselor Who asked counsel, and Who taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding??? (40: 13-14) The answer to all these questions is "No".

As his knowledge is infinite, God never learn anything nor forget anything. When you pray, do not you telling him something he does not know. He simply chooses to work through our prayers.

God knows every detail of our lives. Jesus said, "the very hairs of your head are all numbered" (Luke 12: 7) God does not need to count how many there are because He knows intrinsically. He also knows all our thoughts (Isa 66:18) David said, "because there is not a word in my tongue here and uh oh Lord thou knowest it altogether" (Psalm 139: 4), in the same psalm David continues: " even the darkness is not dark for you "(v12) can not hide anything from the knowledge of God.

The omniscience of God must be a deterrent to sin. Think about some mistakes you made as a child when your parents were not nearby. You would never have done what he did in front of them because they wanted to punish you. Perhaps you've had your way on some things, but "God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil" (Ecclesiastes 12:14) Although the eternal penalty for sin has been paid by Christ God disciplines us when we sin (Heb 12: 5-11) Is there something in your life than you would be embarrassed if God knew what? If so, repent, because God already knows!
