Treasuring the price of redemption
Gal. 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us: for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree."
The key to understanding Jesus' cry from the cross is found in Paul's letter to the Galatians. Gal 3:13
The cursed be is to be removed from the presence of God to be thrown away, removed all His benefits. On the cross, Jesus was cursed. This means He represented the Jewish nation from those who had transgressed the covenant who were exposed to the curse and took all the curse upon Himself. As the Lamb of God, bearer of sin, was cut off from the presence of God.
On the cross, Jesus entered into an experience of abandonment by our benefit. God turned his back to Jesus and separated from all blessing, all grace and all peace.
God is too holy to even look iniquity. God the Father turned His back on His Son, cursing into the abyss of hell while he hung on the cross. Here was the Son "descending into hell", here God's wrath was kindled against them. His cry was the cry of the damned. FOR US.
And all this so that through him came the blessing promised to Abraham to us. He was cursed so that you and I were
blessed
